Anyone watch last night? This is Chef Ramsay's new show. This was a family owned restaurant called Peter's Italian Restaurant. Peter was something else and Ramsay had to shape him up...he co-owned the Restaurant with his Sister Tina..( poor thing)....he liked to spend money on himself and give out free meals even though the Restaurant was going under. The Bill collectors would come and he would run them off...and even fight with them.
The kitchen was a mess and most equipment didn't work....the walk in cold room was a mess with spoiled food. The first thing Ramsay did was to install new kitchen equipment...this made the other cooks happy.
Ramsay installed a new family style menu and finally told Peter the place would be better off without him as he did nothing but walk around and eat the food. Needlesstosay.....Peter shaped up and Ramsay left with the place doing well.

Peter was a jerk! His sister Tina (really his whole family) should have stepped up a long time ago and told him to put up or shut up. I'm glad Ramsay laid into him good.
This show is OK, but I have a feeling I may get tired of it after a while. It will be the same scenario week after week - the restaurant is a mess (for one reason or another) and Ramsay comes in like a white knight and saves the day. :P

There's a similar show (it may even be called the same name) on BBC. It's a better show to me because it goes a little more in depth about the restaurant and why it's a mess. I think the American version will want more drama, naturally! :P
We love Chef Ramsay at our house, too! DH and I would LOVE to eat at one of his restaurants!!

I love Chef Ramsay, he's my absolute favorite TV Chef.
I watch the British version of Kitchen Nightmares, so naturally I was going to tune into the American version.
Love Hell's Kitchen. I'm shallow, I'll admit the one thing I didn't like about Hell's Kitchen was they didn't show him changing into his chef's jacket like they do on Kitchen Nightmares. My Dad came into my room tonight while I watching Chef Ramsay change into it and he asked me if I needed a cold shower :D.
I watched his other show on BBC America as well, The F Word.
But tonight was an excellent episode. I'm glad that worthless General Manager quit. In my opinion, Chef Ramsay was way too soft on the guy. I have never seen such a worthless General Manager as that guy was.

The restaurant was Dillon's in NYC this time. Sort of an East Indian, Italian, Irish place with hundreds of flies. It was just two blocks from Chef Ramsay's restaurant.
Gosh, what a nasty place....eek! And, what was it with those sheets on the wall?????? Ramsay redecorated the place, thank goodness. He changed the Main name to Purnima's and changed the menu. They had all kinds of Managers for this and that. The General Mgr was a dud and quit....he needed to. I wonder if any of this is acting etc or all real....if so, I never want to eat out again! Yuck!!!!

Was he southern? I love it when he gets nasty with people like that .
I would pay the airfare just to go to one of his restraunts and eat off his menu. There's a few recipe's in his cookbook's I'm dying to try, but it's finding the time to make them.
Here's one of my favorite quotes by him:
People say I'm a monster, but I'm not a monster.. I just have to maintain a high standard that people are paying a fortune for. I seem to be the only chef in the country who gets upset when things go wrong.

The restaurant last night was in Bellmore, NY called the Mixing Bowl Eatery. It had been in business for ten years and was on the brink of closing now. Mike the smiler and sometimes crier Mgr said they were all like one big happy family that worked there...the other employees didn't agree with that.
The Owners were Billy the quiet Chef and his wife Lisa who wasn't too happy with Mike or the Eatery. She would just as soon had it close up.
As usual, Gordon changed the menu to smaller, lighter, healthier portions and redecorated and got them back on track.
I don't know about this show...I think alot of acting is going on ......at least we didn't see any bugs, mice etc running around the place this time.

Tonight the restaurant was the 105 yr old Seascape in Islip , NY. It was run by Mother Irene and Son Peter. The Father had died a couple of years ago and evidently Peter didn't think he lived up to his standards. Peter was a meek, sad little man. He said it would take $800 to a Mil to save the place.
It was a stinky place and Ramsay finally shut it down. He told Peter to fire the head chef Doug who was a snarly man and also the Sous Chef who just stood around. The kitchen was truly a mess and Irene said the Health Department had given them a rating of 95. That Inspector should be fired!!!!!!! Irene had told Ramsay it was very clean....LOL ! Gordon tried the Crab cake and said it was Crap Cake. Finally, Ramsay got Peter going and the restaurant remodeled with a new fresh fish menu. Also, a new chef was hired.
Five months later Peter sold it!

I'm wondering if the Mother ran the Inn part of the complex and the Son was left to run the restaurant when his Father died. Funny, how when the food was so awful and people said the place stunk there still appeared to be customers there and customers were unhappy when Gordon shut the place down...one guy was asking if they weren't going to serve them! He and another old guy were already seated waiting.
Pretty smart of Peter to let Ramsay and the show fix the place up and then he sold it.

Oct 17 show.....Finally, a restaurant with no nasty bugs or mice crawling around. This was the Olde Stone Mill run by Dean and Barbara. Dean was stubborn and was the one to clash with " Biker Gordon " this time. The couple was in debt half a mil. Gordon did his usual menu change making the place a steak house and changed the decor.
On the first night of the Menu change with a full house the Gen Mgr Tom was so nervous and sweating terribly. Gordon told him he smelled and sent him to the bathroom to freshen up.
There was a problem with the tickets printing out causing the Chef Mike to get behind which ended with Dean going off on him and shouting. I really wonder if the customers heard this as they tried to show it or if the shouting scene was prerecorded for the show. Hmmmmmm!! Anyway, Gordon saved the day...and all's well that ended well!

This was an interesting show for me. I knew I recognized the name of this restaurant and as the show progressed I remembered where I had heard it. Robert Newman's fan club gave him a gift certificate to this restaurant a few years ago. I also remembered hearing at the time that there was some GL tie to the restaurant so I tracked the website down last night. It stated that the owner, Dean, has appeared on both GL and ATWT. I thought I remembered that he was related to someone on the show but hey . . .

Love Ruth Chris, right up there with The Palm.
I don't have a clue who he was on either show. One place I found today indicated that he was recurring on GL but I can't find anything with his name anywhere which really makes me wonder if he used a different screen name them. Oh yeah, also I saw that he might have been on the Soprano's so I wondered if maybe he was involved with the show when the Santos storyline was part of the show . . . Looks like those are often the type of roles that he plays . . .

It was a Pizza Place called Sebastian's....the owner was Sebastian who was also the Chef and a wannabe Actor. He had fired 49 people in the last year, was losing money 90% of the time and probably could stay open for only six more months. Ramsay tried the food off of the huge menu and wanted a " sick bag"......the guy used only frozen products which didn't set well with Gordon. Frozen pizza dough....LOL!
Well , now we knew from the beginning that Sebastian was an actor. I'm losing interest in the show.

Carol the Waitress thought Gordon was pretty fine, she'd like to get her hands on him. LOL Gordon thought the window curtains looked like Granny's curtains....
Gordon tasted the food as usual that the Chef prepared and evidently the Shepherd's Pie made him ill...lots of vomit sounds...ick!!! Buddy, the father called Brian " Chef Short Cut"...he must have taken a short cut on that Shepherds Pie. Didn't need to hear that. Opening night with the new decor and new menu had the family on the run, but as usual all ended well.
Interesting, at the end of the show they were asking for restaurants who were having problems to apply for the show. I'm surprised they didn't qualify that by saying you must be able to " act " too! LOL.

What is it with these "upscale" restaurants having food that is frozen or canned?? Geez....I try to do everything fresh even at my house!

The Secret Garden was on the brink of financial ruin.....up to $120,000 in debt. Michel was the owner/chef and had a big ego. On the first day Gordon couldn't find the entrance door, so funny!
Gordon told Michal.."Don't take this personally, but your food is crap!" after being served a meal. Gordon inspected the kitchen as usual and it was sickening....maggots in the potatoes.....eek!
Gordon did his usual kitchen cleaning, redecorating of the dining room, put up a new sign and designed a new menu. So in the end , after some ups and downs, and alot of bickering everything turned out ok.
