Three 'World's' Not Enough for Oakdale
As The World Turns Logo(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- Here today, gone tomorrow. "As The World Turns" is losing three of it's actors by the end of the year.
According to Soap Opera Digest & TV Guide Online, "As the World Turns" stars Mark C. Collier [Mike Kasnoff] and Paul Leyden [Simon Frasier] will be exiting the show at the end of the year. In addition, Matthew Morrison who debuted this past week as Adam Hughes will be exiting the show as well.
Leyden joined "ATWT" in March 2000 as the sexy Simon Frasier. In January 2004, he exited the to focus on his primetime career, but made a few appearances throughout the rest of the year. His decision to leave paid off as he landed a lead role on the now defunct NBC drama "LAX." Leyden’s exit should come as no surprise, as the Aussie had stated he only signed on for a few months. It was rumored that the show was trying to negotiate a deal with Leyden that would extend his stay after his contract ended.
Collier joined the show in 2002, taking over the role of Mike Kasnoff. Originated by Shawn Christian in 1994, Mike has had his share of frontburner storylines. In early 2006, Collier took a break from “ATWT” to audition for pilot season, but returned after it was over.
In what is being called a "scheduling conflict," Tony nominated actor Matthew Morrison, who debuted on October 24 as Adam Hughes, will also be exiting the show. No final airdate has been made available but Soap Opera Digest is reporting that the role will be recast.
It is up in the air whether or not the show will recast the roles of Mike and Simon. Both men are expected to air through January 2007. No final airdate is available at this time.
In other casting news, actress Terri Garber [ex-Victoria, GH; ex-Leslie, Dynasty] will return as the troublemaking Iris Norbeck Danbrowski on Monday, November 20. In addition, "I Wanna Be A Soap Star" finalist Shamika Cotton is returning for two more episodes on Tuesday, November 28 and Wednesday, November 29.
**Maybe old news, I'm always late!
